summer edition 2022

Summer is here and so is the season of sunshine, colourful fruits and beautiful berries.

At sakura, our summer flavours are back: Strawberry Rhubarb Cupcakes, Raspberry Cheesecake, as well as one of my personal favourites – Matcha Strawberry Shortcake.

Soft Matcha sponge, layered with a white chocolate whipped cream and fresh regional organic strawberries (image on the right). Not overly sweet, but just the right amount of fruitiness – and perfectly light to enjoy on warm days.

For the wedding of two wonderful people I recently created a new cake: raspberry cream cake.

Intensely fruity compote made from organic raspberries, embedded in fluffy fair trade vanilla sponge and a light yogurt cream frosting. Such a simple but oh-so-good summer flavour combination. And since it was so popular, this cake made it into our summer 2022 portfolio. Available on the weekends at our café, and to order as a whole cake for your celebration 🙂

The second new cake on the block this month is Strawberry Cheesecake – a much requested classic taste, for a good reason. We prepare it not only vegan but also gluten free, as usual, and top with fresh regional organic berries!

In the meantime, our Mont Blanc is going into summer break.

Mont Blanc is available to order also during the summer, but not regularily at our café – to make space on the display for all the beautiful fruity summer cakes. This dessert popular in Japan will make a come back next fall, in time for chestnut season.

Until then, enjoy all the summer harvest Berlin and Brandenburg has to offer! Order your celebration cake loaded with berries and fruits, or explore this year’s flavours at our café. Come by Monday to Sunday – we’re here for you every day ❤
